Are the any heroes left
in secret cloaks and masks,
any queens of this new year -
is it too much to ask?

Are there grown-up heroes -
big hearts in their chests
to catch the vicious vampires
and all the rebel’s tears?

We don’t need to be rescued
we want no helping hand
we need a key, a look ahead,
a reason not to fly.

The big man from Del Monte
we don’t want to say no!
The shakers not stirrers
to follow our tracks in the snow.

We’re holding out for thunder cats
for super men that can,
for wonderfully wonder women
to please rewrite the facts.

What we really really want
is a batman with a plan
and a bat cave of our own
(with doctor in the know)
to trade in our lost ark.

Somewhere somewhere out there
raining with the men,
our darling hero breakfast-maker
loiters with Sir Stark -
