A Rythme Royale on Poetry as Code

On the page
we meet at dusk
across the velvet
director’s cut
you in the stalls
and I in the mask
alight on stage.

On the page
I lie in wait, in dust
for hours or weeks
I hold my breath
your hide and seek
feigning death
I seek the janus-sage.

On the page
I find you still
the Engineer
with ricin quill
in old Portcullis
private thrills
rebuild our golden age.

On the page
we work alone
but lie together
when we’re done
when all the bullets
flower at once
and empty lies the cage.
